I’ve been doing long distance multi-day bike packing with my Mum for 20 years and we’ve completed the majority of the Sustrans long distance routes in the UK, still my favourite place to ride my bike is Scotland! I just love it! There’s just nowhere better to cycle!

After our adventures around the Outer Hebrides in 2018, John and I decided to plan another Scottish adventure. We started off looking at the Caledonia Way from Campbeltown to Inverness but all the reviews suggested the paths from Fort William north weren’t suitable for road bikes so we decided to combine part of the route with part of the Inverness to Glasgow route which I’d done twice before.

The route we came up with involved 5 ferries and 3 trains!

We wanted the flexibility to choose where to stay along the way so we packed lightweight camping kit and we were ready to go.
